Mina Trapp
I was born and grew up in Guglielmo Tell's country.
I studied to be a teacher and so I have worked as one in various schools before moving to Barcelona in 2003, where I fell in love with puppetry in the Pepe Otal's workshop. The world of puppetry was so unknown to me that I had no idea that was actually a job! It was love at first sight. I instantly knew this was what I wanted to do in my life, because it was giving me a chance to put into it everything I loved to do. Constructing puppets took me into manipulating, while interpreting I needed music, so I took out of their cases my dusty instruments and went back to the soundscape of my childhood.

In the course of the years I have been manipulating, acting and playing music in many shows, designing and building different types of puppets and scenes, making soundtracks, illustrations, posters and books for my company and for others all over the world. My development has been a daily and passionate time dedicated to the scene and the work in the atelier. When I need a deeper understanding of a thematic I take courses that help me to grow not only technically. In the summer of 2021 I graduated in Scenography builder at ESCAC (Superior School of Cinema and Audiovisuals in Catalunya) in Terrassa (Barcelona).

FEEDBACK FROM CARDBOARDIA INTERNS
Moscow, the direction of performance design
Before the internship I knew nothing about Cartonia - I accidentally came across an ad on the Internet for interns and thought: "Hmm, that's interesting! I think I know how to work with cardboard, and I want to see Kulikovo Pole" - so I applied, and I was lucky!
Moscow, the direction of performance design
I've traveled and seen enough (not really that much, but there's a lot to compare it to), I've watched people in other states, I'm still trying to understand the structure of our country, but Cardboardia is one of the best countries I've ever been to. If I was given the choice of staying without everything and going to live in Cardboardia, I would say yes.
Moscow, the direction of performance design
Yes, perhaps that is a great experience. Now, I experience Cardboard differently. By the way, the Big Men who outfitted me for the internship never understood why I didn't learn how to make locks. Too bad it's an internship and not a course or a practicum. And... Thanks to Tyran. Yes, one person definitely made it to the end! To be able to organize what has been a hobby into a business is a rare stroke of luck. And for it to still breathe and live its own life - quite an endangered case. Vivat Tyran, vivat!

THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT US

Valeria Solovyova
Before the internship I knew nothing about Cardboardia - I accidentally came across an ad on the Internet for interns and thought: "Hmm, that's interesting! I think I know how to work with cardboard, and I want to see Kulikovo Pole" - so I applied, and I was lucky!

Then, when they started to tell me more about the conditions, I got a little scared: they said there weren't enough places in the hotels, and that I had to bring my own pots, plates, and a lot of food, because the nearest store was 50 km away, and the schedule of the dining room didn't coincide with the cardboard cutting schedule; besides, I imagined an organized shuttle service, when the whole big Cartonia crew loads the bus and drives to the place mentioned (now I realized that it was impossible because the crew had been working all through the project). In general, I was expecting some spartan conditions, cold, hunger, wild fatigue, working under the open sky and living in tents. But the reality exceeded all my expectations: stunning beauty of the place, vast steppe, low sky, and sandstorms on the horizon, the museum itself is amazing in its architecture, landscape and content, very comfortable, fully equipped living houses (although I understand that this is just great luck, and Cardboardia is not always lived in such conditions) timely meals and quite adequate work schedule. I was fed up and absolutely happy with everything!

As for the work itself, I should say separately. First of all, I want to express my deep gratitude to Olesya Kandalitseva for her caring, tactful and careful approach to learning: she gave detailed instructions on safety, warned in advance of any mistakes, explained everything very clearly and gave interesting tasks. And in general I am incredibly grateful to the whole team: everyone was very friendly and responsive, each person was willing to help both with advice and help.

Because I have been making various objects, models and furniture out of cardboard for more than a year I knew how to hold a knife correctly, understood the material, and what is the direction of the corrugations and ribs, and thought that I did not learn anything new, but it was not like that - I have received many skills, I learned a lot of skills and tricks of the trade, such as how to make patterns for costumes, where to reinforce the layers of cardboard, where to glue with tape, where to varnish, how to ensure human safety when using an object, how to make a secure fixture, etc. Everything was helpful!

And in general, I was impressed with the atmosphere: the atmosphere of a very friendly and creative community, where all the people are so interesting and different, but living and burning with one idea, trying and putting all their power to create a holiday for other people. All the characters of Cardboardia, as one big family, and they really resemble a nomadic people or even a traveling circus, which moves from one place to another, putting on a colorful show.

These 6 days of internship were an invaluable experience and an unforgettable experience for me! Cardboardia conquered my heart, and now I want to be there, because it's a great happiness - to create, to work with my own hands, to turn ideas into reality, to create such monumental and beautiful things, to do something for people and see their happy faces!
And thank you, Tyran, for creating this Cardboard World!
Dasha Alexeyeva
I've traveled and seen enough (not really that much, but there's a lot to compare it to), I've watched people in other states, I'm still trying to understand the structure of our country, but Cardboardia is one of the best countries I've ever been to. If I was given the choice of staying without everything and going to live in Cardboardia, I would say yes.

The time when I learned about a country without territory is long gone, it was so long ago that I even sometimes think I've known about it since birth.

I haven't had the chance to live in this country much, but enough to know what the rules and laws are. I am willing to subscribe to every one of them.

At first I got to the Steppe and understood from the first days that sleep is not the main thing in this country, that madness in the eyes and thirst for what is done is much more important. During my internship in the Steppe, I learned perseverance, pushing aside girlish whims and insecurities about myself and the blade of a knife. I learned stamina and stability, the glue was burning my fingers, but I didn't give up and I won! I realized that you can be happy and overwhelmed even without comfort. Those days in the steppe are forever in my heart, which freezes up to this day from memories of local sunsets, strong winds and twittering swallows.

I also happened to visit preparations for the Moscow Polytechnic Festival. I was happy to be face to face with the montage, which paused at the slightest moment when rain poured down behind our necks in a pavilion without walls or a roof. I realized that people in this country are confident and quick-thinking. Making a decision before you have time to think is the most important thing. Time is short and you have to make it, even if you are hungry and have rainwater in your boots. Preparation for Polytechnic taught me how to manage their time, that there are no difficult things, if there is no skills or knowledge, everyone can help, just ask, not forgetting to include the brain. For me, also, Cardboardia is about progress and development.

During the Polytech festival itself, there was fabulous weather and so much happiness that I finally realized: no matter how much you've slept before, no matter how many fingers you've cut making a child a "sound-cracker-wonder-of-wonder", no matter how many people try to take away your Amox shuffleboard during the parade, because it's "Super cool! Ah, let me play!", all of the above are insignificant and insignificant compared to the love of a country without territory that I have for ever and so deeply that it seems to be the most heartfelt confession I've made in a while. Thank you, I am happy!
Olga Vasenko
Good afternoon!
Since few people will read to the end, I will immediately write all sorts of thanks and shoot some rays to my colleagues in the shop.
Thank you, Olesya, for taking care of us. For your interest in your interns.
Thanks Anna! For the food and its organization)
Thanks to everyone who showed up in my life for these two weeks.
Thank you Dasha for taking over for me!
Anya for a wonderful story about starting to exercise!
Katya, for the killer humor.
Ira for the company of Crocodile.
Nastya, for the smile. And dreadlocks. I want them for a long time.
Ksyusha, who let me cut sandwiches. And not to go out in the cold)
To Lelya, I admire her versatile artistic vision.
Sasha, for the opportunity to be close to the talent!
To Marina and Lera, for the workshop and pics)
To Kostya, for the well-made cuttings in the horses.
Lyosha and Artem - thanks for the great SUPERSHIT and Crocodile head. The only head I managed to make during my internship.

My name is Olga.
And I whined.
Whining the whole internship.

About how I wasn't the one who made the Crow's mask.
About how I was not the one who invented the Goat's head in one day.
How I was not the one who made the Embrace Meter.
About ovens, cups, pans...
And just to keep things positive.
I whined.

INTERNSHIPS.
You called to work, maybe not us, but here we are. What are you going to do now?
Costume designers, illustrators, ex-demobees, homemakers, ethno-people... Making a mix of us was probably the hardest part. Those who signed up for design worked their asses off at the Workshop. Future interns keep in mind, you're not going to make it and do anything perfectly anyway. Get over it right away.

There are two roles in the internship mix.
Either create, or ... cut!
By the way, the one who creates is still the one who cuts.
But the one who cuts... He cuts and cuts.
Do you understand why I whined?
Of course, no one bothered to peek and advise unnecessary advice. But if you're not an artist or mechanic right away, there's no time to become one in the Workshop. Not during the internship.

What we learned-well, good artists and designers-remained good! That's no small thing!
The rest... We learned how to cut straight, in a circle, on the piece, on the floor, on the table.
