(Spoffin production manager, Cardboardia Minister of Transport)
November 2014
Together with his team and local partners, the Tyran of Cardboardia is working on a 'show' for a Parade of 3-5 days.

For this, the Tyran needs submissive citizens with good, bad or crazy ideas – citizens who think it's great fun to make and create a dream, and who want to create an original cardboard production along with a group of complete strangers.

These citizens are artists, storytellers, creators, actors, producers, teachers, musicians, free spirits, or… people!

Everyone can sign up at the Ministry of Crazy Ideas and Useless Businesses.

There's no limit to the size of the group of participants. There's room for everybody (from various disciplines) to give expression to their own ideas.

The story is to be created together by the storytellers, actors and musicians, while the scenery will be developed organically at the same by the creative artists and other handy individuals.

During the days of the Parade, the audience is invited to take part in the festival.

In a workshop (2-3 hours long) everybody can give expression to their own ideas, whether or not suitable for the theme of the Parade.

The most important conditions for a successful Cardboardia are:

- Cooperation with and above all support from local partners.

- A location (400-600 m2) big enough to work on the show together (story and décor) and with a large/high entrance (4 x 4 m).

- Effective marketing! In order to recruit enough participants* from disciplines as diverse as possible. To start at least 6 months prior to the event.

- Technical support for various preparations as well as during the festival itself, such as local purchase of material, sound check, wood supply, preparing the location (light, sound, security and so on).

- Catering on location.

* Experience indicates that it is important that participants realize that working in a Cardboardia group takes a great deal of time – a whole week long. It's also a challenge to find people who are able and have the time to work intensively on such a project for several days in a row.
